~ Floral Welcome ~

This tutorial was written by me, and any resemblance to any other tut is purely coincidental.
In this tut you will learn faded text,  making a pattern/tile as well as a simple frame.
This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.

For this tutorial you will need
Paint Shop Pro. I used PSP8 but it can be done quite easily with any other version.
A floral tube of your choice
A thick and a thin font of your choice

The supplies  I used are here.

~Let's get started!~

Make a new image 500 X 500
always give yourself plenty of room, one can always resize later, and remember to save often ;)
On your materials palette set your foreground color to a lighter color from your tube.
I used #CEA9B5.
Set your background color to a darker color from your tube.
I used # 591034.
On your foreground, set to gradient: foreground-background, linear style, angle 180.
Flood fill your image with the gradient you just made.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Resize if needed.
I resized mine 80%.
Position tube where desired.
Put a drop shadow on your tube.
I used -7vertical, -7horizontal, 50 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color
~
Now we will made a faded text.
Click on your text tool and find a thick font of your choice.
I used Coliseo-normal, size 72, stroke 2
Change your foreground gradient to 0 angle, and your background color to nul.
Now click on your image and type your text, notice there is nothing inside, just an outline.
Position text where desired, then go to effects-inner bevel-and use preset- metallic button.
The preset info is included in my supplies if you don't have it.
Take magic wand;  feather=0 , anti-alias checked, inside. Click on the inside of each letter.
Go to selections - modify - expand 2
Make a new raster layer.
On the materials palette, change foreground gradient to angel eyes and swap materials.
The angel eyes gradient  is included in my supplies if you don't have it.
Flood fill the selected areas with this new gradient. Change opacity of this layer as desired
I changed mine to an opacity of 70%.
Deselect.
Drag this layer so it is beneath the outline you made above.
Hide all other layers except these two...merge visible.
Put a drop shadow on the faded text, if you want.
I used -2vertical, -2horizontal, 90 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color.
I also added a second text using Aleolus size 36, I used the background gradient I used for the flood fill on the inner faded text using an inner bevel as above. with a drop shadow of -2vertical, -2horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color. It is totally up to you as to use a second text, choice is yours.
~
Now we will make a pattern/tile, as well as make a simple frame.
Take a copy of your tube, paste as a new image. Crop the tube so that you only have flowers.
Go to effects-art media effects- brush strokes -use preset small thin oil.
The preset info is included in my supplies if you don't have it.
Go to effects - image effects - seamless tiling, choose whatever settings desired.
I used factory defaults and changed the opacity on the layer to 70%.
This will be your texture when needed, keep open for now. Save as 'floraltexture.jpg'.

Now, 'copyMerged' your tag and paste as new image.
I do this so that I can save my bases, so at any time I can go back an change or add.
Image - add borders - use a dark color from your tag, 1 pixel, symmetric
I used #340A1F
Take magic wand;  feather=0 , anti-alias checked, inside. Click on the inside of this thin border and put a drop shadow. This will show some depth.
I used -2vertical, -2horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color., then 2vertical,  2horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color, then -3vertical, -3horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color., then 3vertical,  3horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color.
Image - add borders - #FFFFFF, 2 pixels, symmetric.
Image - add borders - use the dark color you used before, 1 pixel, symmetric.
Image - add borders - #FFFFFF, 13 pixels, symmetric.
Take magic wand;  feather=0 , anti-alias checked, inside. Click the white border.
On materials palette swap materials, this will change the gradient angel eyes to your foreground. Use this gradient to flood fill the selected area.
Go to effects-inner bevel-and use preset- metallic button. Deselect.
Image - add borders - #FFFFFF, 20 pixels, symmetric.
On the materials palette, choose the pattern you made, 0 angle, 130 scale. Flood fill the selected with this pattern. Deselect.
Image - add borders - use the dark color you used before, 1 pixel, symmetric.
Take magic wand;  feather=0 , anti-alias checked, inside. Click this dark border border, and put a drop shadow.
I used -2vertical, -2horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color., then 2vertical,  2horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color, then -3vertical, -3horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color., then 3vertical,  3horizontal, 100 opacity, 20 blur, #000000 color.
Image - add borders - #FFFFFF, 2 pixels, symmetric.
Image - add borders - use the dark color you used before, 1 pixel, symmetric.
Image - add borders - #FFFFFF, 13 pixels, symmetric.
Take magic wand;  feather=0 , anti-alias checked, inside. Click the white border.
On the materials palette, change foreground to angel eyes gradient 180 angle. Flood fill the the selected with this gradient.
Go to effects-inner bevel-and use preset- metallic button. Deselect.
