Ruby Louise Sutherland (Joudrey)
December 19 1944 - March 30 2009

So many memories Aunt Ruby, so hard to believe you're gone from us. A broken  link in the Joudrey circle that will be forever felt. I remember as a little girl going to your place for lunch and after school. I thought you were the coolest Aunt.
Being in your presence was always enjoyable. My how we could get on the phone talk for hours and loose track of time. Sharing a recipe, story, song, knitting patterns, soaps, joke, tears, a laugh.... the list is long. I can still remember the first time you mentioning your "boyfriend". The way you talked I had thought he was coming over...then I realized you were talking of Charley Pride LOL. I wonder if Charley knew you had many in that line up.
Your tough exterior never deflected the true heart inside that you showed to me. With all the hardships you endured, it was understandable of the protective walls you had built. I was fortunate to be on the list you allowed in.
Being a single Mom, raising 3 children; the love you showed  was plain to see. And even more evident when grandchildren came on the scene. One could always look upon your walls and see the many photos surrounding you; the ones who were close to your heart.
I always had to chuckle over "the look" you gave at times. The jovial manner you had like "What chu talkin bout Willis"  I sometimes think I picked up some of your mannerisms at times, which I take pride in, for to me your humor was tops in my books.
Many a song, when I hear them, reminds me of you and being at your house. Music was always cranked up, enjoying every beat and word. One song that seems to have been prominant in my mind over the years is one by Billy Joe Spears. A song we  use to play over and over again at your place, and one I'm sure will always connect me with you Aunt Ruby.  I hope now that you are free from all the pain you had here on earth, that you are listening to music, cranked up.

Miss you Ruby
