John Edward Janes Nov 30 1937 - April 30
1992

Born in Carbonear, NL, he was a son of Drucella (Stevenson) Janes of
Carbonear and the late George Sr Janes. He took his training with the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Regina and Ottawa and was a member
of the RCMP with postings in Truro, Shubenacadie, and Stewiacke from 1956
-59. He then joined the Truro Town Police in November 1959 where he was a
constable, the only corporal Truro had and later sargeant, then detective
until he died. In 1968, he was president of the Truro Police
Association. He was co-founder of the Truro Police Boys Club, Truro area
co-ordinator of Block Parents, member of Phoenix Lodge No.50 Oddfellows of
the Truro and Mt. Seir Encampment. He was member of Truro Fire Brigade
from 1969-1992, where he held positions as Steward and Deputy Fire Chief
from 1988 until he died. He was twice elected fireman of the year, served
on the board of directors of the Cobequid Firefighters Association and was
active in fireman's darts, curling and golf.

so hard to believe so much time has passed.

here are times when it feels
like only yesterday, but the ache in my heart knows its been longer. How I
wish we could sit and talk of all what's going on today, but I guess that
will have to wait.
